2. What Gilded Lot Is, and What It Is Not

Gilded Lot is an independent editorial website about auctions and collecting. We publish general information, guides and commentary for collectors.

  • We are not an auction house, dealer, broker, appraiser or marketplace.
  • We do not sell, hold, store or broker any of the items we write about.
  • We are not a party to any transaction you enter into with an auction house, marketplace, dealer or other third party, even if you reached them via a link on our site.

3. Not Financial Advice

Nothing on Gilded Lot is financial, investment, tax, legal or other professional advice. Our content is written for collectors who acquire objects for their beauty, history, craftsmanship and personal enjoyment.

  • We do not present art, watches, cars, coins, precious metals, wine, whisky, jewelry, memorabilia or any other collectible as an investment or as a way to generate a return.
  • We make no promises, predictions or guarantees about future prices, values, resale results or liquidity. Prices for collectibles can fall as well as rise, and an item may sell for less than you paid, or not sell at all.
  • Past auction results and price data are historical facts only and are not an indication of future results.
  • Before making any significant purchase, consider seeking independent advice from a qualified professional who knows your personal situation.

4. Accuracy of Information

We work hard to keep our content accurate and, where we cite dates, estimates or prices, we name our source and the date we checked it. However:

  • Auction dates, venues, lots, estimates and terms are set by the auction houses and can change or be cancelled at any time. Always confirm details directly with the auction house before making plans or placing bids.
  • Price ranges and market data are indicative snapshots taken from third-party sources on the stated date. Actual prices depend on condition, completeness, provenance, location, timing and many other factors.
  • Information may be incomplete, out of date or contain errors. We provide all content “as is” and make no warranties, express or implied, about its accuracy, completeness or fitness for any particular purpose.
  • Authenticity tips and checklists are general guidance only. They do not replace inspection by a qualified expert, manufacturer or recognized authentication service.

5. Prices

Any prices mentioned are indicative. The price and conditions shown by the seller or auction house at the moment of purchase always apply, including any buyer’s premium, taxes, duties, shipping and insurance. We do not show crossed-out or “was/now” reference prices.

6. Affiliate Links and Third-Party Websites

Gilded Lot contains links to third-party websites, some of which are affiliate links for which we may receive a commission. See our Affiliate Disclosure. We do not control third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, products, services, terms or privacy practices. Your dealings with any third party are solely between you and that third party.

7. Alcohol-Related Content

Content about wine, whisky and other spirits is intended only for adults of legal drinking age in their country of residence, and at a minimum 18 years old. By viewing this content you confirm that you meet this requirement. We encourage responsible enjoyment. Purchasing alcohol is subject to the laws of your jurisdiction and the terms of the seller or auction house.

You may view and share links to our pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, republish or commercially exploit our content without our prior written permission. Brand names and trademarks mentioned on this site belong to their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only. Their mention does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the website in any way that is unlawful, harmful or that interferes with its operation, including attempting unauthorized access, scraping content at scale, or introducing malicious code.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Disputes will be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
